Lately, I’ve been all about lipsticks and lip liners! I’ve been raving about Artistry Lip Colours since I got some in the mail. When it comes to certain lipsticks, they tend to dry out my lips and make them feel chapped. Artistry lip colours do just the opposite. They keep my lips hydrated and the color is so long lasting. May 12, 2008I’ve been in such a colorful mood lately that I’ve been doing this yellow & red eyeshadow look for the past few days now. It’s now my current favorite look. I finally got my hands on some NYX eyeshadows this past week and they are the eyeshadow I used in this look.
Here’s how I achieved this look :
1) First, apply an eyeshadow base to the lid, passed the crease, and on the browbone. I used this time Ulta Eye Primer (review coming soon). Apply a shimmery light yellow/light gold eyeshadow to the lid and just the inner crease. I used NYX’s Blondie eyeshadow for the light yellow.
2) Apply a shimmery red eyeshadow on the outer crease and just on the outer corner of the lid. I used NYX’s Rust eyeshadow for the red eyeshadow.
3) Apply a shimmery light beige on the browbone for the highlighter color. Use an eyeshadow primer on the lower lashline and apply the yellow on the inner lashline/red on the outer lashline.
4) Apply black eyeliner on the top lashline. I used Wet n Wild Megaliner Liquid eyeliner in Black. Lastly, I apply a few coats of Artistry Essentials mascara in Black & Artistry Waterproof mascara in Black for a false eyelash look.

My How To’s - Simple Smokey Neutrals Look Part 2
April 30, 2008I decided to do two tutorials featuring the Rimmel eyeshadow palette from this post. This smokey neutral look is spiced up just a tad bit, enjoy!
1) After applying an eyeshadow base to the eyelid, passed the crease, and up to the browbone, apply a light bronze eyeshadow on the lid and passed the inner crease.
2) Use a deep reddish bronze eyeshadow and apply it to the outer crease up to the browbone. I also applied Artistry Eyeshadow in Espresso to darken up the deep reddish bronze eyeshadow.
3) Because I love black eyeshadow for depth + an even smokey look, I apply Artistry eyeshadow in Black Tie on just the outer crease. For a highlight color, I used a light beige eyeshadow on the browbone.
4) For a pop of color, I use Milani liquid eyeliner in Gold on the upper lashline.
5) Apply a brown eyeliner on the lower lashline 1/3 of the way. Set the liner with the deep reddish bronze eyeshadow on top. For the inner side, apply the an eyeshadow base and then, a light beige eyeshadow on top. Lastly, apply a few coats of black mascara on both the lower and upper lashes.
Voila, a kicked up BUT simple smokey neutral look!

The More Natural Approach to Make Up

I get asked, “How can I achieve a natural face?” a lot. It’s very easy to achieve and all you need are the right tools aka the right make up. Natural make up is more appropriate for the work place and interviews than outrageous/colorful make up looks. Even I have to do a natural face when it comes to major business functions/meetings. I save the more colorful looks for when I have make overs to do or free days. Here are some of my tips when trying to achieve the natural face.
Choose a concealer that is yellow in tint, so it can hide your imperfections without adding much color.

If you can’t decided which foundation color is best for you, go to a department store make up counter and they can help assist you when finding the right color. If you decided to go to the drugstore for your foundation, make sure your drugstore has a return policy for cosmetics. Test the color on cheek or chin, the foundation should disappear on your skin. Don’t forget to always set your liquid foundations with a loose powder.

Always make sure your eyebrows are well groomed. Your eyebrow pencil/eyeshadow color should be either 1-2 shades darker if you have light hair or 1-2 shades lighter if your hair is dark.

When it comes to eyeshadow colors, choose more earthy tones. Try shadows in gold, brown, bronze, plum, and beige. You can apply a light eyeshadow on your lid and a darker shade on the crease to give eyes more depth. Don’t forget to apply mascara!

If eyeshadows isn’t your thing, you can skip the eyeshadow and just use mascara.

Wear an eyeliner that doesn’t look harsh on your skintone. For lighter skin, try brown/dark blue/grey. If you have darker skin, try dark brown/black. Use a powder eyeshadow + liner brush instead of a regular eyeliner to create an even more softer look.

For a flush of color on your cheeks, wear a natural looking blush. If you have darker skin try warmer tones such as bronze, plum, a dark rose, and terracotta. For lighter skin, try tones in rose, peach, pink. Apply blush on an angle on your cheekbones and a touch on the apple of your cheeks.

When choosing lip colors, look for colors that best complements your skin and lips. If your have darker skin, try shades in plum, berry, deep reds, mocha colors. If you have medium/olive skin, try shades in deep pink, light brown, raisin, and caramel. If you have lighter skin, try shades in pink and peach.
